Budget Advice

If there is one area where we are in control of our financial situation, that is our personal money or liquidity.   By practicing smart, conscientious budgeting of this available money, we can always have that security and peace of mind. Any money book would always devote a page or two to budget advice.  Here are some easy and workable budget advices for you.

1. Before you can plan on a feasible budgeting technique, you must first adhere to the basic rule of money management: always spend less than what you earn.  That ensures you have something stashed away for emergency.   If you don’t have this, chances are you will be forced to sign up a loan, make cash advances in your credit cards, or sell your assets at a lover value.   All these options mean top-up expenditures for you.

2. We’ve all heard about “needs versus wants,” and how needs should be prioritized.  Though this is not easy, it can be pulled off as long as one has a healthy perception of the concept of self-reward.  Some argue that their wants are really rewards that they deserve for their hard work, like a new cell phone.  While everyone is entitled to how and when they should reward themselves, the difference here lies on which is more practical in the long-term.  Certainly, worn-out electronic gadgets are no match to a small beachfront retirement property 20 years from now.  Let the thought of a comfortable old age inspire you to shy away from present wants as much as possible.

3.Consolidate your debts.  Many of us wrestle with paying multiple credit cards, loans and debts, that it is impossible to save.  It’s now time to break this disastrous bondage by consolidating your debts and loans into one single payment, which reduces interest rates and the monthly charges, saving a lot of money for you.  Seek help from banks and government resources for this task.

4. Be frugal and constantly include money-saving ways into your lifestyle.  Recycle things that can be reused, like old clothes (deconstruct into pillow cases, pot holders or mats) and left-over food (save breakfast money with dinner’s leftovers, have yummy snacks from last night’s party fare).  Buy from the cheapest retail stores. Use discount coupons.  Entertain at home and lessen your electricity use.  In the long run, you will see for yourself that those pennies really add and in many years, they turn into a fortune.
